Practical innovations in health care delivery.

To drive improvement in quality and affordability, U.S. health care needs marketplaces driven by competition around real value for the health care consumer. Such competition represents a major break with the past—but, around the country there are encouraging trends in this direction. Nevertheless, the development of competition-driven marketplaces is complicated by uncertainty over the ultimate impact of consolidation among providers and between providers and payers, and the complexity associated with moving to new payment models. What actions will speed—or threaten—the development of a new health care marketplace driven by value? How should providers adapt to this changing environment? This meeting will provide actionable insights and knowledge for leaders of provider organizations and their clinicians, health care purchasers, and policy-makers.

We will focus on three initiatives:
1. Reshaping the Provider Landscape: When should you merge?
2. Vertical Integration: Is it the “Secret Sauce”?
3. Negotiating on Value instead of Fee for Service: When should you take the leap?
